Prudence’s first family road trip included a few milestones of her own (Her first time to leave Texas. First time in Arkansas. First time in Missouri. First time in Illinois.).
We decided to take Prudence to Mount Vernon to see some family and meet some more family and friends. Since we weren’t comfortable flying with her under 6 months (recycled air is hard enough on a fully developed immune system), driving it was.
She actually did really well. Mama was a genius not transitioning Prudence to the crib before the trip since because we took the Pak-n-Play, she was always in her own bed and slept like a champ.
Once we reached Mount Vernon (and after mama and daddy got some well-deserved rest), Prudence made the rounds. She got to see Grandma Smith and Aunt Julie again and meet Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Ellis, Uncle Shawn, Cousin James, and Uncle Norman. We also drove up and met Grandpa Don and Patti. She also got to see Uncle Carl and Aunt Valerie as well as meet lots more of Daddy’s friends.
A highlight of the trip for Daddy was getting to watch the Cardinals in the World Series with Uncle Carl. They were able to watch at least part of most of the games together. Mama was impressed with how quietly Daddy was able to cheer when they made it to game seven, but she was astounded with his ability to quietly celebrate their World Series win while she was driving and Prudence was sound asleep on the way back home to Texas.
